FTS Ethertest
&
TranScan ISO/8583 Decode

Instructions for Download
and Installation

Currently, there are 3 separate installations required to install TranScan with FTS Ethertest or FTS Serialtest.  (We hope to reduce this to 1 installation sometime in the near future.)  There are 3 files to be downloaded, corresponding to the 3 separate installs.
  1. TranScan Viewer base software
  2. FTS Ethertest/Serialtest
  3. FTS decode of TranScan ISO/8583

TranScan Viewer base software

The download file is a zip files. PKZIP, WINZIP, or equivalent is required.  The zip file contains the TranScan Viewer base software installation files. After downloading the zip file:

  1. unzip the files into a single folder
  2. double click on "setup.exe" from Windows Explorer.
  3. follow the on screen instructions

After installing the TranScan Viewer base software, start the TranScan Viewer program (from the start menu, select "TranScan" (or whatever program group you set at installation), then "TranScan Viewer".  If you haven't installed TranScan Viewer before, you will be prompted for a password.  If you do not have a password yet send an e-mail to support@transcan.com. You may use the TranScan Viewer program for a 30 day trial period without a password.

FTS EtherTest/Serialtest

The download file is an executable (webinstallxxx.exe, where xxx is the current FTS version number).  Save the files to disk, and then execute it from its saved locations.

To install FTS Ethertest or FTS Serialtest:

  1. execute the FTS installation program (webinstallxxx.exe)
  2. under “General Purpose Analyzers”, select “Install EtherTest”, or one of the Serialtest products (you will be instructed which one to install depending on your serial communications requirements). 
  3. Click the “Go” button.
  4. When prompted, enter your FTS serial number. 

After installation, run Ethertest or Serialtest to verify that installation was successful, by starting Ethertest or Serialtest and monitoring communications line traffic.  Data will not be passed to the TranScan Viewer until after you install the FTS decode below.

FTS decode of TranScan ISO/8583

The download file is an executable (FileSetTS_yyyymmdd.exe where yyyymmdd is the creation date).  Save the files to disk, and the execute it from its saved locations. To install the Ethertest decode of TranScan ISO/8583: 

  1. Execute FileSetTS_yyyymmdd.exe and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. If given a choice of FTS installations, choose the one you installed above.
